Gokyo lakes trekking is a grand option to the popular Everest Base Camp Trek. This trekking also begins form Lukla after 1hrs 30min mountain flight from Kathmandu. Afterward following up the Dudh Koshi River towards Namche bazaar, the doorway of Khumbu region. Subsequently trekkers leave the main busy trail towards the quite village of phortse Tenga and lastly reach to our decisive destination. Gokyo lake gives stunning views of Mt.Everest and three other 8000m peaks such as Mt.Cho Oyu, Mt.Lhotse and Makalu. From here trekkers also can see the largest glacier in Nepal named Ngozumpa.
Separately from them the view of the marvelous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas of Gokyo lake trekking. There are many alternatives for high elevation walking including crossing of Cho La pass and Rengo La pass however still trekkers will not cross those passes. This trek is definitely a less horde than the Everest Base Camp trekking. Late afternoon is a good time for making the climb above the glittering lakes to capture a remarkable sunset.
